Report on India’s G20 Presidency and its Importance

On the 08.08.2023, an Awareness programme was conducted by Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur. The lecture was on the title “India’s G20 Presidency and its Importance” which focused on the upcoming G20 presidency submit which was about to be held in our country in the month of September. The Chief Guest for the program was Dr. M. Venkatachalam, IFS, The Head of Branch Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and the Guest of Honour was Prof. J Ranganathan, Honorary Council of Myanmar. Around 250 students, Deans, Heads of various Departments, and staff members participated in the programme.

The programme began with the prayer song followed by the Welcome Address, which was delivered by Dr S Thirumagan, Principal, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur. The Chief Guest Dr. M Venkatachalam and the Guest of Honour Prof J Ranganthan were honoured with shawls by Dr. V J Philip, Deputy Director, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur and Dr. S Thirumagan, Principal, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur. The felicitation address was given by Dr. V J Philip, Deputy Director, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, where he shared his words of knowledge about the G20 presidency submit.

The Chief Guest, Dr M Ventakachalm, IFS, The Head of Branch Secretariat, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India was introduced to the audience by Dr. S Illanjiam, Vice Principal Academics and Research, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur. The programme the proceeded to Dr M Ventakachalam’s elaborate overview of India’s G20 Presidency summit. He expounded his knowledge about the objectives and organizational structure of G20 and how it works to promote a brighter future. His speech also shed light on the theme of India’s G20, 2023 submit, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” “One Earth, One Family, One Future”.

Later the Guest of Honour, Prof. J Ranganathan, Honorary Council of Myanmar was introduced to the audience by Mr. Samuel Sampath Kumar, Vice Principal Admin, Hindustan College of Arts & Science, Padur. Following which, Prof. J Ranganathan addressed by giving a glimpse of his amalgamated views on the cultural, traditional and bilateral commonality between India and Myanmar. His speech mainly focused on G20’s ultimate goal of Hope, Peace and Harmony.

The awareness programme successfully came to an end with the Vote of Thanks which was delivered by Dr A Ganesh Kumar, Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Hindustan College of Arts & Science.
